Overview

100% free: export visible Reddit post comments to a local CSV without cookies or private APIs.

Reddit Comment Exporter helps researchers, community teams, and operators turn one supported Reddit post discussion into a practical local CSV for review, backup, or analysis. Use it when you need to keep the original thread structure and return to the source comments later—not to automate activity on Reddit. How it works Paste or open one supported Reddit post URL, such as https://www.reddit.com/r/.../comments/... or https://old.reddit.com/r/.../comments/.... After you explicitly start a task, the extension validates that one target tab, reads comments that are already rendered in the page, and prepares a local CSV. Choose Top-level to keep root comments only, or Loaded replies to include replies Reddit has already rendered. Choose a row limit of 25, 50, 100, 250, or 500. If the page exposes fewer readable comments than the chosen limit, the task reports a partial result instead of claiming that more was collected. What is exported The standard CSV columns are author, comment body, time, score, reply depth, and permalink. When the optional post context setting is enabled and the rendered page exposes it, post title, post body, and subreddit can be added. A field that is not present in the rendered page is left empty; it is never invented. Recent task status and completed local exports remain available in local History for re-download. Privacy and permissions The extension works only on supported Reddit post/comment thread pages after an explicit user action. It does not create posts, write comments, vote, send messages, follow accounts, or interact with Reddit content. It does not read login tokens or Chrome cookie values, use private APIs, bypass login, verification, age/NSFW restrictions, rate limits, or private-content controls. It does not upload exported comments or task data to Web Tidy servers. Login, verification, age/NSFW gates, an unavailable target, or comments that are not visible are reported as attention rather than as a completed export. Key features • Export rendered Reddit discussion comments to a local CSV • Choose Top-level comments or already loaded replies • Use a clear 25–500 row limit and see task progress, partial results, and local History • Preserve author, body, time, score, depth, and source permalink when available • Optionally include available post title, body, and subreddit context Does not • Post, comment, vote, message, follow, or automate engagement • Read cookies, login tokens, or private account data • Access private APIs or circumvent Reddit access, login, verification, or content restrictions • Upload user data or exports to Web Tidy Supported target pages Use a supported Reddit post/comment thread URL on www.reddit.com or old.reddit.com with /r/.../comments/ in the path. Home pages, search pages, profiles, private destinations, and unrelated URLs are not collection targets.
